I was disappointed

First, the LED is so small that you need a magnifying glass to read it. Saving stations is not easy. You can only store 5 stations on AM. The sound section is factory set so that the cheap headphones that come with it sound ok, but when you put on a better set of headphones the sound is pretty terrible. Mega Base (once you figure out how to turn it on) sounds so dirty it drowns out your voice. If you turn off Mega Bass, the sound becomes too thin. The only thing that helps a little is turningโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Mega Bass and Automatic Volume Limiting System (AVLS)
Cons
  • Minor things

Served my purpose well

So I think the only reason anyone would buy a new player is to listen/digitize to old cassettes. I wanted to do that. If you're buying this as your primary portable music player, I'd recommend getting an iPod shuffle or nano instead - they're not that much more expensive, a lot smaller, have better sound quality, and are a lot more convenient. Stop fighting the future (if the future was still the 90s) and embrace the glory of the digital age. However, I had a box of old cassettes that Iโ€ฆ

Cassette players are an endangered species

Portable cassette players are an endangered species. They're hard to find now and most of them don't have a rewind button (why?) . That's why I relied on this Sony Walkman as it's the only player so far with a rewind button, which I think is essential. I use it to listen to books on cassette. Cassette players are smaller and easier to carry than portable CD players. Since I only use it to listen to audio books, I've never listened to the radio or the weather channel with it, so I can't commentโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Up to 35 hours of playback on a single AA battery
Cons
  • boring packaging
