I bought 2 of these hubs a year ago and they continue to serve me well! What I like about these hubs is that they continue to work even after the hub is turned off. That means I can still use my laptop with a mouse, external keyboard, flash drives, and possibly a portable hard drive even if I shut down my system during a storm. I don't remember my old USB hub having this capability. These hubs have more dedicated (red) USB ports than I know what to do with, and I swear my phone actually charges

I've bought USB hubs in the past that said they were powerful enough to connect multiple external hard drives. really does. I've plugged in all 6 drives I have and charged batteries and phones from other ports and it just works! No signs of power overload. I ordered this hub because I have several portable external hard drives that I use to back up music and videos. I needed to connect at least 3 portable hard drives to the hub and the connector only had 7 high speed transfer ports which meant I could theoretically connect additional devices. I have two desktops, one is an old Dell and the other is a new Acer that I bought last week. I first tested the hub on an old computer.
