Great product - generous bag

Just amazing. I built 3 cat houses using styrofoam fridges from our local tropical fish shop (free). The hay was perfect, clean and there was enough, I could have harvested 10 more and still not used it. The lightweight bag also made it easier to handle. A highly recommended product.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Concise instructions

This product is finely chopped straw. If you are a true chicken breeder/city farmer you know that this product is not suitable for our flocks. Unfortunately I can't fault the seller as he certainly described the product as chopped straw, but why it's advertised for chickens I really don't know. The straw is so finely chopped that there is a huge amount of dust/small pieces of straw that are dangerous to your respiratory system. Personally, these products are better suited for small animals like

Ideal for wild cat house

I bought a heated faux lambswool cat house and put the whole cat house in a fully insulated kennel to protect it from the weather and the cat can't get in. I bought a house for wild cats, filled it with this straw and the cat loves it. Non-heated pads. Straw. Leave it to the cat. This straw is super soft, making it easy to fluff up and redistribute once Kitty has cleaned the floor and there isn't a soft straw to lay on. Each piece is between an inch and an inch and a half long. Putting it downโ€ฆ

Great Price on Straw for Pet Litter

I need straw for a box I am making for a local cat that came to visit me. The cat is well fed and seems to belong next door (most obviously a street pet) but is nice and friendly and visits me. I can't let him to my cats because I'm not sure about his sighting. It's going to be freezing and snowing soon, so I put the box on my covered patio, cover it with plastic to keep the water and wind out, and put straw inside as a little nest. This was the straw I ordered and it was a great choice. It's a

Great for outdoor shelters

I bought this product to build an outdoor cat shelter. I kept the bag unopened for almost eight months before needing it. The straw inside is in perfect, dry condition. I've found that local retailers mostly store their straw outside where it gets wet and mouldy. After a few dry days it may appear dry on the surface but is damp and moldy on the inside. Unhealthy for animals. This straw is dry and stuffed so tightly that I can use a bag for twenty or more cases. It's definitely inexpensive. Ifโ€ฆ

Very soft and cats are attracted to it.

My husband and I bought a house in November. and low and low - it came with stray cats! 7 of them to be exact. We built them shelters out of Styrofoam coolers in containers. We filled them with straw and you will find our kittens in them every night. When the wind picks up and snow/ice blows, they are nowhere to be seen until we open the door. It looks like a row of clown cars with cats falling out - hysterical! I climbed in and the straw stays nice and dry. If I pet the cats right after theyโ€ฆ

Clean but dusty and full of seeds

UPDATE: I think I said too soon. We've had a lot of rain the past few days and I just went outside to find some grass sprouts in my strawberry patch. Of course, they grew from seeds of this straw. What a pity. That's a lot of hay! I was afraid it wouldn't be profitable because it was cheaper to buy straw bales at Home Depot or elsewhere. But since it's pre-cut and very clean, and the HD straw isn't finely chopped and often moldy or contaminated, it costs a bit more. In addition, it is fullyโ€ฆ

Lots and lots of straw at an unbeatable price.

I'm a cat rescue and I have about 25 cat houses cleaned and filled with fresh straw every fall. I use a lot of these things. I've tried many other brands. Some were very good and some were very bad. But of all the ones I've tried none comes close to the amount you get for this price and the quality is great too. It comes in a large plastic bag and the straw is very compressed. It looks like it will fill about five or six cat houses (shelters made out of 20 gallon plastic containers) but when Iโ€ฆ

Super quality straw for pet litter

Yes, this straw is more expensive than what you can buy at the garden center but I'm very happy to report that it really is so is high quality, very clean, dry straw that is ideal for animal bedding. Also, it's packed much more tightly into the bag than any regular straw bale you'd get for gardening, giving you more straw than the same volume* (*e.g. if you just put straw in a box and then in a with box filled with compressed straw, of course the volume of the container is the same, but a boxโ€ฆ
