Works as expected, good for nail hammers

I have stock hubcaps on 1937 Ford wheels. Works perfectly for them. I put a self-adhesive rubber band on the shaft where it made contact with the wheel. Not sure if it will damage the wheel without rubber, just some kind of insurance against it.

As described, it is very solid.

I bought one in the 70's from my then agricultural cooperative and have had it for a year. I think someone wanted this worse than me so I ordered a Steelman 75031 puller and it was the perfect replacement for what I had. It's very solid.

    Cons
    • A few little things

    Great for E-450/E-350 wheel covers

Got this for my E-450 based RV and it works great. I used to have trouble prying the caps off with a screwdriver and putting them back on with my foot. None of them were perfect. And while I could have gotten a better pry bar and rubber mallet, it can all be done with one tool. Since I have to remove the hubcaps to get air in the tires, this makes the job a lot easier.

    • One year trial
    Cons
    • Small things

    Incredibly good - hammers

I have seen and used many cap removers in my life but this is the best. The design and ergonomics are so good that I can take my hat off for eight hours at a time without getting tired or disoriented like cheaper Chinese imitations. I've built a reputation in the garage for being the fastest hubcap puller since HubCap Charlie retired in 1959.

    Pros
    • Weight
    Cons
    • Cord is shorter than other picks

Nothing Out of the ordinary - Power and Hand Tools

I use this tool to install/remove caps on trim rings on a pickup truck. Does the job with no problems and has been happy with it so far. One thing I did, however, was wrap the end of the scraper with tape around it so I wouldn't scratch/gouge the surface of the truck's rim when I used the cosmetic ring removal tool. Also, when installing the cosmetic ring, I place a rag between the "hammer" portion of the tool and the cosmetic ring to avoid damaging the cosmetic ring during reinstallation.

An essential tool for classic car owners

If I hire someone to change tires or do any driving work like brakes or bearings, I remove the hubcaps myself before taking the car in for service. I've seen mechanics take off rare hubcaps that are in excellent condition, lay them face down on rough concrete to use as a catch when removing lug nuts. Now if they could develop the necessary tool to remove the driver's seat, driver's door and steering wheel before leaving my classic in the gorilla's care, I would buy it.

    • Upgradeable

Ideal for any number of caps, different metals. This tool is great. The hook seems stiff enough for normal abuse. The rubber mallet is soft enough not to damage or dent the cap provided you hit it hard enough to install it. There's no point in beating the cap to death! The handle is comparable to a large screwdriver, a normal plastic handle. I used a similar tool while working in a shop 30 years ago and it seems very similar. Perhaps the handle has a slightly different shape, but the hook and…

and I'm so glad I saw the video that recommended this tool.

I ordered a new hubcap kit for my Toyota van and am so glad I saw the video recommending this tool instead of the screwdriver I was planning to use. I can almost guarantee I would break at least one of the brand new hubcaps. This tool works like a charm to remove and replace hubcaps. I always carry it in my van now. DO NOT use a screwdriver or other non-specialty tool (like this one) to remove lightweight ABS hubcaps. It costs eleven bucks and one alteration to get it right!
