All 4 screws (included) line up perfectly with the pivoting base of the old (30+ year old) chrome plated stool frame. The seat is thicker than the original and more comfortable. It looks like it's made of durable material that will last a long time.

Very nice seat and cover. However, the floor is made of chipboard, which does not support the device, two types have sagged. (The original holes did not match) Remove the chipboard and rebuild the floor with plywood.

I broke an old office swivel chair. Although the seat was beyond repair, the base of the lift cylinder still worked. So I lined up this chair seat with the chair base and drilled holes in the board to screw it to the base. So far it works well and is very convenient.

I've had no trouble fitting this seat but I can see it can be difficult for someone who doesn't have mechanical skills. The bearing must be rotated 45 degrees to align the 4 keyways with the holes in the seats. The bearing is fairly tight, so little force is required to turn it. But I'm glad it's tight; it should be.

Seat on stool used in our garage needs replacing. It would have cost over $60 to build (foam, wood base, cotton wool, staples and of course time). This finished seat is comfortable, well made and very easy to assemble. Saved my husband a lot of time restoring the old seat. It only took 2 minutes to mount the new seat on the old base. Definitely recommend this seat for use with a suitably sized base.

I work as a service clerk in an auto repair shop. I spend 6-7 hours a day sitting on a barstool at work, so I consider myself a barstool expert.
