Easy to install, very sturdy

My new camper didn't have a handrail - just a small handle on the outside of the door that doesn't really help when climbing stairs. This guide does just that and installs in minutes. I wouldn't recommend putting your full weight on it or letting your grandkids swing on it like a pole, but it does provide good support (and confidence) when going up or down stairs. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Useful for Garage Steps

I installed this on the two steps in the attached garage that lead to the dirty room of my house. This is ideal for those who need extra stability when going up or down two steps that otherwise have no railing. It was exactly what I was looking for as it can also swing flush with the wall. The screws are long enough and good enough to attach firmly through the panel to the wood frame of my door. (Drill pilot holes and hand tighten with #2 Phillips screwdriver) Update Oct 2013 - still works…

Fantastic reusable pen.

I use this in my garage. Install it on the stairs leading to the house. My wife and I have some health issues and this was a great and simple solution for a handrail to make climbing stairs easier. I also really like the double fold option. I've seen most of them used for RV applications, but they can be used for multiple purposes. Just make sure you put it somewhere safe, I had a stand on the wall so no problem. I only have 3 flights of stairs leading to the house so be sure to measure how far

4 stars for good reason.

Love the handle. We have 5 steps to get to the ground in our Class A motorhome. It's difficult for my wife to get off because she has about 3 steps with no handle. I think this will be the answer to her balance, although she says it's too far from the camper. I gave it 4 stars because it took 4 trips and two days to install. The original screws went into the aluminum backed wall with no problem, but the screws were so long that they penetrated the aluminum channel on the back wall until it went

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly torn

A second one was added to the extra door. They are .

Added a second to the second door. They improve security. My only advice as a camper specialist is to mount them as close to the door frame as possible to be able to hook onto the frame next to the door. Holding it at a comfortable height, mark it on the skin with a drill large enough to center the hole, and then use a drill no larger than the diameter of the screw shank to drill holes in the wood frame behind it. This prevents the possibly narrow wooden frame from splintering when installing…

Will not fit 2006 DRV 38RL3

When the original Lend-A-Hand pins and springs on my 2006 DRV 38RL3 fell apart I found this and it looked exactly like the one on my motorhome. Great I thought as I didn't want to drill new holes in the side of my rig. It turns out that the distance between the centers of the screws is 24 inches and mine is 23.5 inches. I can't find the 23.5" version anywhere and I don't understand why there should be 23.5" and 24" versions - WHY!? While I think this device is fine for my new setup, it won't…

Timber frame door installation and gasket installation

This product was easy to install but required a few extra steps to ENSURE the installation was sound and watertight. Insert heavy-duty mounting screws STRONGLY into the trailer's wooden (or metal) door frame. Before installing the pole, fill in the area around the Clear RTV pilot holes, then place a waterproof mat on the trailer wall. (see ASIN B0774DKKXV). The mat forms a watertight dam under the handlebar mounting hardware. Tighten the mounting screws and cut off the excess waterproof mat…

No complaints - handrails

Easy to install. Is working. I can't think of a reason not to give it 5 stars. I mounted it directly over my trailer's existing handlebars, which makes the new "handrail" look a bit high. This was a compromise because I wanted to keep the existing handle in case I was too impatient of taking two seconds to reattach the railing. I also didn't have a good idea how to patch the holes left by the existing handle. If that doesn't bother you, the "right" mounting height for this article could be…
