The key to modem router combos is location

Overall the router is great and does the job. One problem is the range of the router. Although I had connectivity throughout my house, it was intermittent or delayed in some places. I ran a few speed tests and found that the parts of the house further away from the router have very slow speeds, while the speeds closer to it are phenomenal. Moving the router to a more central location solved the problem. I'm happy because I'm saving money by not renting from Time Warner. However, there are 4…

DO NOT BUY: Combos Modem Router

I have a Mediacom with 100Mmps service. Works great for about two months, no problems. I was ready to write a rave review and give it 5 stars! Then the problems started. Devices keep disconnecting from the wireless connection. While streaming on Roku or Firestick, the show just stops, tries to load, and then it says "Lost Connection". I need to restart my router and reconnect my streaming stick to the wireless network. This happens at intervals of about 12 to 15 minutes. So if you're used to…

2 years later. on Computers & Accessories

My previous modem was a Motorola Surfboard which I was quite happy with, but after looking for something more reliable I came across TP-Link. I'm pretty good with computers etc but when it comes to modems, routers and anything connected to the internet I still have trouble detecting 1200 baud modems. Therefore, I rely on the reviews and experiences of other users. Before Motorola, I had a separate modem and router, and I had to keep resetting them because they stopped communicating with each…

Just check the name on recovered devices!

To clarify I'm not a techie and have no idea what the difference between routers is. Brilliant! Why spend $14/month to rent equipment from Xfinity when it pays for itself in 3 months? The only downside I would like to mention is with refurbished items. At first I couldn't figure out why the router wasn't listed as WiFi available. device until I discovered it was actually there. just under a different name than listed in the docs (link to TP, whatever) and that's because they forgot to reset the

So far, so good! (Update - Failboat)

So good -- Got this to replace an Aris router I got from Wal-Mart. Ariss had CONSTANT downs with wireless and connectivity. It doesn't have the same problems. I wouldn't say the wireless range is better, but at least it's stable. Aris went back to Wal-Mart, and it cost half as much. I haven't tested the speeds yet, but coming from DSL, cable is (at least) a million times faster at the moment. I subscribed to 200 megabytes, get 80 on this cable and much worse on wifi. Tons of drops…

TC-W7960 model does not work with cable Time Warner New York

different models - it makes no sense for electronics, especially routers because they have different firmware etc.] This model does not work for Time Warner Cable in Brooklyn, NY. I can't speak for anything else. It connects and as soon as you log in it says it's connected to the internet. You call TWC, give them a Mac address and they activate it. Easy enough right? Certainly not. Somehow it is automatically assigned to DNS servers in the 69.134.xxx.xxx range. The old DNS servers were in the…

Good - Easy to set up - Works by .

12 MONTH UPDATE It has been in use for over 12 months so it has more than paid for itself. However, Wi-Fi connections kept dropping. So now I've paired it with my Google WiFi router and now the pair works great to give me reliable, fast WiFi throughout the house. .Good - Easy to set up - Done Works with Comcast/Xfinity - Good speed (more than Comcast at my subscription level) Bad - I had to reset every few days when my Wi-Fi devices are discounted - WiFi connection speed was slower than that of

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Updates

I've had this router for 2 months now and it started crashing intermittently for two weeks - now it crashes every few minutes throughout the day. The wireless signal is good BUT every time you surf or navigate YouTube fairly quickly, your devices lose internet connection even if you are still connected to your router/hotspot. It may then take 2-3 minutes to reconnect (or you have to do it manually by manually disconnecting and reconnecting). This happens CONSTANTLY on a Mac, an iPhone, and two…

Everything works as advertised EXCEPT WIRELESS PRINTING!

Everything works as advertised EXCEPT WIRELESS PRINTING! In fact, this device seems great, and I just randomly picked it from my cable provider's list of approved devices. However, it periodically (and unpredictably) resets the ability to print to a wireless printer (HP ENVY 4500). Windows and Mac devices simply send items to the print queue where the print requests reside. The only way to get them to print is to reboot the router. Once this happens everything seems to print fine for a while…
