MY CAT DON'T LIKE IT

I bought this door closer spring for my upstairs office so my cat wouldn't leave the door wide open and drain all the heat or air conditioning. It cannot happen because the spring tension is too strong. In addition, the spring itself will damage the wall and door where it hits it. I had to use the box it came in to fill. This pen is too heavy for my needs.

This is the best thing I've bought in a long time

Oh my god this is the best thing I've bought in a long time! My kids would always run outside to play and would leave my back door wide open for all the flies and bees to get in. It drove me crazy! Now my kids can eat, I run out to play and the door automatically closes behind them! So great! It's also easy to turn on and off.

Works better than I thought!

Easier to install with two people. You press the pen. Another lowers the door hinge pin into the hole in the door hinge. A lot more pressure to close the door than I thought. We use it on the outside back door of the patio where the grandchildren left it open over a dozen times at a family gathering last weekend. This cheap but very functional door closing spring solved the problem. Of course, this is NOT a decorative door closer. It looks like a feather. But no holes, no screws, etc. I put…

Works great but a bit ugly

I bought this for a closet in the hallway that my kids leave open 1000 times a day. That works great. It almost completely closes the door (doesn't push the latch all the way in), which we find to be the ideal tension as it doesn't pinch your fingers. Everything went smoothly, although I had to get a washer for the top because the pivot pin head is significantly smaller than the hole it goes through in this product. Because it's mounted on the outside of the door, it's fully visible in the…

Overall probably more like 3 1/2 stars

I have a closet door that I prefer to keep closed most of the time. Wife and kids leave it open all the time. So I surprised her! :) In general, I'm happy with it. It was easy to install, and while it doesn't fully close the door (and I knew it couldn't. It takes some effort to fully latch the door), it does close the door. close enough for me The only real problem was that it left a pothole on the door despite a small rubber bumper/tread. It's in a closet so I'm not overly concerned, but if…

Simple, Affordable and GREAT

This door closer was just what I needed. It's very affordable and I was able to "install" it in a minute. There is little information on the box on how to install the device, but after reading the Revain reviews, I clearly understood what to do. Simply lift the pin on one of the door hinges and push in. It is so easy. I used to use screw caps and while they worked well, I hated the installation work and the damage it caused. With this pen none of this is a problem and the results are identical.

God sent but difficult to install

I hated the installation. This is definitely not intended for doors that have sills against a vertical wall. Both my friend and I struggled to climb over the latch on our 1940's apartment door, snapped our fingers and broke off a small piece of the door. I was about to give up until it was finally installed. since then it's great. Since having a cat I have developed contact dermatitis which keeps me up all night scratching my skin. I love my cat so we have tried keeping the bedroom cat free…

Why didn't I think of that sooner?

Hooray! Problem solved! In my home, a closed basement door is vital as I need to keep my beloved dog out of the basement where my beloved cat lives. (Don't worry cat lover, she's well taken care of and happy camping.) Unfortunately, basements tend to lug big arms full of stuff in and out, which means I need something - then walk in the door and get it despite the arm full of things immediately behind me. And when I go down, that means I do it balancing on the top step. It's a miracle we all…
