Powerful thin hammer suitable for hammers

Bought for use with a hammer. Should work well - good weight in the 30 ounce version. Well made, nice finish, good polymer head.

Pros
  • Good performance
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Good weight and well made

Lift for use in frost is ideal. Used to split hickory with the Gransfor Bruck-Froe and more than did the job with the weight. The construction is solid and well made. There will be smaller ones to work with a chisel.

Pros
  • Everything great!
Cons
  • Zero

Totally indestructible

I've had it for a few years and I've tried my best to hurt it, break it, hit something I shouldn't and it just laughs and keeps going. this thing is wonderful. Not as accurate as a brass head hammer for fine work, but if you're making a wooden frame and need to plant a tenon this will work. It's always in my tool bag and the lead shots really help add weight to it. Just don't slap her hand, ask me how I know.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Legacy model

Be careful - it's not too heavy, but tight enough.

Great hammer - be careful when landing convincing blows. Without paying much attention, I did a pretty good job of calculating the angles of the workbench leg to match the mortise and tenon. That is hard. Don't be fooled by its light weight. I know this sounds counterintuitive - I mean it's not too hard to swing, but the urethane is tough enough to crush the fibers and break the sharp edges. I found this to be a great submersible chisel hammer!

Sturdy, sturdy and balanced

I am a novice carpenter/woodworker at best. I've got a big project behind me (our timber frame SIP house) and I've been using this hammer almost every day for a year straight. It looks almost brand new and has been subjected to countless abuses. The hammer feels very solid in my hand and I like its balance. At first I thought almost $50 for a hammer was crazy, but the quality and benefits already more than make up for the cost. Oddly enough, it's a quality tool and there's something beautiful…

Best Hands Free Hammer

Wood is good 30 ounce hammer is essential for big chisels. Balance, ergonomics, materials and craftsmanship all cry out for a tool built to last. It's great to see companies like Wood is Good making a tool of this caliber here in the US. This hammer might cost a little more, but it's worth it as it deforms and holds up well compared to the others. I use a 30 ounce hammer mostly with 2 inch and large angle chisels for wood frame projects. I find this to be the perfect balance of weight and…

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons

Good solid hammer in hammers

This is a good solid hammer with some weight. It didn't feel too heavy even after using it all day. He will deliver a powerful blow without damaging the butt of the chisel. The plastic head dissipates shock from impact, relieving hand and forearm strain. I haven't used it for a lot of small jobs, but I've used it for lighter chiseling and it's worked well. I used it to gouge grooves in a 10" walnut log and it worked better than my beech mallet. The head has some signs of wear but is not damaged

Pros
  • Pleasing

AMAZING Hammer for Hand and Power Tools

As a leather worker, I'm always on the hunt for the best tools. This 30-ounce bad boy is one of my new favorite tools on my workbench. First of all the grip, the perfect grip and a smoothness so silky it's almost unbelievable. The plastic head left no trace of my injections last night. My old worn out plastic mallet worked fine, but it's too light, I had to keep hitting other tools with it, wood is a good 30oz, 2 light taps and I was able to get on with it. Finally, the weight of this beautiful

Simplicity, form and functionality

My review is not original. If you regularly search the internet for "wood is a good review" you will find a number of professional, respected and revered authorities who agree. I have nothing to add to the heartfelt respect and support for this company and their hammers. I've seen this line of products touted as a solution to elbow problems, fantastic protection for expensive or fragile tool handles, and the best idea for the home carpenter who wants to be respectful and cut Mori as quietly as…
