Much more modern internals than the R501 transceiver.

I bought this model because I had intermittent problems with the much older R501 transceiver. In my configuration I installed an X10 active phase coupler on the main panel and a CM11A interface controller. On the R501, commands to dim/brighten a light module sometimes ended with the module number directly above or below, on or off. In other cases, the Dim/Brightness command ran a macro to turn all modules on or off. I figured my air conditioner must be noisy and messing up the X10 commands. The

Works well but is annoying

There are two things that need improvement to get the highest rating. Antennas broke too easily. I find the turned metal parts too dainty. I was able to solve my problem by connecting a copper wire that was longer than the antenna that came with it and improved reception better than the original, so all the best. The switch that controls the fixture number is very, very small and difficult to install. I solved this problem by making it Device 1 instead of wasting a day moving the slider 1/2…

Poor long distance reception X10

I've been using the X10 for about 20 years. My original transceiver (TM751) recently died. The X10 PRO PAT03 was meant to be an upgrade of my original that has lasted almost two decades. It should only respond to my front door motion sensor (MS14A) turning on the front door lights (address A1), wireless bedside remote control (HR12A) and three cars in which I have programmed the HomeLink button to turn off the front lights (also A1). The .X10 PRO PAT03 will not accept any of these items unless…

Works perfectly! Best Networking Products

Works better than the much older device I had. The use of two such transceivers increases the range significantly. Through experimentation, you may find that you have a switch box on either side that routes power to different groups of outlets and switches. By placing sockets with different sides of the bridge for each transceiver, you can effectively cover the whole house (and in our case a separate garage with an office) with your remote controls.

  • Don't waste too much time

Great add-on for X10: Networking Products

A quick and easy way to add another zone to your X10 automation system. I will definitely add another one as my project continues to grow.

Pros
  • Finally bought it

X10 products continue to suffer from quality issues

Yes I am one of those crazy people who have continued to use X10 products over the past 30 years by various company owners, always turning a blind eye to reliability, technical limitations and quality issues. Very happy to receive my first PAT03 but the telescopic antenna detached at the first touch (you should have seen my face). Still protecting my wife's tech, I ordered a replacement only to find it was DOA too. Like a real x10 soldier - I bought their WiFi transceiver - which at least works

Range is not very long

I bought this to replace the previous RR501 transceiver I have had since 2000. The capacitor is finally dead. I placed a spare in the same spot with the same wireless controllers and X10 modules. The first PAT03 I received had a radio range of 6" to 12". I suspect it could be a return. I'm pretty sure he didn't have the box. I asked for a replacement. The replacement has a longer range, maybe 8 feet or so, while the previous RR501 had a longer range, at least 20 feet. I've wall mounted some of…

X10 Pro transceiver PAT03

I've been working - find out. I have a lot of old (pre-X10 Pro) modules, RF wall switches, connected switches, etc. It works well with old stuff. I have ordered some of these. newer X10 Pro switches. Have not tried new modules with new transceiver. I don't expect any problems, but stranger things have happened. This module is significantly larger than older transceivers. The antenna is longer.
