Description of Yost FSV-4 Heavy Duty Forged Swivel 360°

Bench vise with swivel base has a 4" jaw width and 0.5"- to 2"-diameter pipe capacity to provide clamping action for heavy-duty applications. 360-degree swivel base adjusts the direction of the jaws for proper placement and locks in place. Forged steel body has a powder-coated finish that provides weather resistance and a flat portion that acts as an anvil and additional work space. Top jaws and pipe jaws are made of hardened steel, are grooved for enhanced grip, and can be replaced when worn. Guide rails adjust to counteract wear and restore precision.

Great visas! look at my photos

Very nice little vice. My employer bought a pair of 6" Yost vises (cast iron) for the shop and I have to say that the small 4" vise I bought compares incredibly well. I took it apart to clean like most tools I buy and am very happy with the build. I think this thing is for life. I've added some photos of different components. This vise is made of steamed steel, some parts of which are welded together. If you break any part of the frame you can just weld it together. You can definitely tell it's

Love this thing - works great in a jewelry studio

While my use case may differ from many others, I have actually mounted it on a weighted bench grinder stand and used it for a variety of grinding needs. Handmade jewelry. I'd recommend getting yourself some non-scratching, magnet-based sponges for this if you intend to use them for similar purposes. The only thing I can seriously complain about is that the anvil's flat surface is textured and not well polished. Eventually I'll try to see if I can grind this down with my diamond whetstones (it's

That's what a vice is.

Will damage my second so-called heavy-duty cast iron vise. Yes, I hit him, bent hot steel, and he broke his jaw off the main shaft. The strength of Sast cast iron is approximately 30,000 psi. I think this tempered malleable iron is 130,000 psi and will withstand some abuse. It will replace the 6" Bessey I that I broke. BTW, the reversible YOST 5.5 (855-D20) also replaced the Wilton 11106 I bought that arrived damaged! , but these more expensive YOST vises are better than the so-called high-end…

Just as good as the old version

Bought these for another bank. It's just as good as the old steel version. This 4 inch vise is suitable for use on a DIY workbench. Jaws extend a little more than usual - you can use them on a 5" grip. End of the handle to punch limited and the vise doesn't complain at all. a wedge that can be adjusted to keep the jaws from wobbling, it doesn't have shaft bearings like a milling vise. Couldn't figure it out. Both work great and I like the adjustable outrigger to keep the jaws from swinging.

  • Great price
Cons
  • Not the best

Sloppy finish to fit workbench clamps

This would be a great vise for the money if the jaws were parallel. In my case they are not. I've used it quite a bit for rough work where it didn't matter and now it's probably out of warranty. So I removed the jaw liners and sanded down the cast iron underneath. How painful! It was anything but parallel, and not just a little bit. I forgot my original measurements but it was quite a thick pen. I line it up for a while every time I go to the store and it's almost done. I probably wouldn't post

Sturdy, high quality vise

I needed a vise for my workbench and having previously broken cheap cast iron vises in half from over tightening I wanted something strong. After a lot of research, it turned out that this was the best option for a strong vise without spending hundreds on a large, US-made ductile iron vise. Forged steel and durable design meet all requirements. The box says it's made in Taiwan (there's a higher level of craftsmanship in general). I measured the 6" hole before the end of the lead screw enters…

Bomber Nut Nice Vise

I've wanted to put a good vice in my shop for a long time. I looked on ebay for good quality old vises but found them all overpriced. Eventually I gave up and decided to get one through Revain. This one is really very beautiful. I screwed it to my desktop in the "little shop" and added a set of JCL nylon vise clamps. I am very happy with this facility. I have the FSV-4 (4 inch jaws) which is great for my purposes. These vises are forged and therefore more durable than cast iron vises. I think…

Beautifully crafted, intuitive and innovative!

I don't always take the time to write reviews, but every once in a while there's a tool or product that makes me feel like I should give it the proper process it deserves. This Vise is definitely one of them (obviously). It arrived within a week of ordering, had free shipping and the packaging was wonderfully done, double boxed and padded inside, arrived in perfect condition. Beautifully designed and finished in a bright red that will catch your eye in the store. I love that the tips oxidize…

I love this Yost so much I will be buying another one soon.

I have used cheap Chinese made cast iron vices for decades which were weak, sloppy and prone to breakage. I actually never had a single tear, but you know what, I wanted some quality. This is made in Taiwan from durable forged steel. Yost is an old respected name. These are the real machinist's vices. I paid a little too much for mine, I've only seen them for a hundred, but I'm still very satisfied. For a 4 inch vise, the strength of this vise is incredible. I mounted mine over the edge of my…

Assembling, finishing and assembling the ADI-4

ADI-4 well packed in a sturdy box; Paint without chips, vise is not worn or dented. Kind of more than I thought. I wouldn't want more for myself. The jaws open over 5 inches and align well. The vise isn't the best color but is covered where it should be and not closed where it shouldn't. I didn't notice any mechanical defects. took it apart, gave it a good rub and used the base as a template to drill holes in my workbench M10 x 1.5 anti-rotation locks. I added them M10 grade 8.8 washers. I…
