## What is Beldex

Beldex (BDX) is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency derived from Monero, secured by proof of stake with masternodes that propose and validate blocks. The project also builds privacy apps on its network, including the BChat messenger, the BelNet decentralised VPN and BNS names.

## Network and consensus

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Type | Layer-1 privacy blockchain based on Monero and the CryptoNote protocol |
| Consensus | Proof of stake (Bucephalus) since 10 December 2021: a randomly selected masternode proposes each block, checked by 11 validators |
| Block time | 30 seconds |
| Privacy | Ring signatures with RingCT and a larger ring size hide transaction details |
| Launched | First software release on 1 February 2019 |

## Supply and issuance

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Staking rewards | 90% of the block reward goes to masternodes and 10% to the node that builds the block |
| Fee burn | Fees from Flash instant transactions are burned |

## What BDX is used for

- Private payments on the Beldex network
- Masternode collateral: 10,000 BDX, which can be pooled among several stakers who share rewards
- Transaction fees, including Flash instant-transfer fees, which are burned

## Who develops and governs Beldex

- **Company**: Beldex International Inc
- **Developer**: The Beldex Project; the code includes portions from the Oxen and Monero projects
- **Governance**: At the Bucephalus upgrade, 37.5% of new block rewards were allocated to governance
- **Open source**: Yes; source code is public on GitHub

## History

| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 1 February 2019 | First software release of Beldex. |
| 22 April 2019 | Masternodes implemented in release v3.1.2. |
| 10 December 2021 | Bucephalus hard fork moved the network to proof of stake, cutting block time from 2 minutes to 30 seconds. |
| 29 January 2024 | Bern hard fork (v5.0.0), scheduled at block 2,986,890. |
| November 2025 | Obscura hard fork release (v7.0.0), including Bulletproofs+ integration. |

## Security and audits

- Checkpoints snapshot the chain every 4 blocks, limiting how far back an attacker could rewrite history.
- The BEP-20 BDX contract on BNB Smart Chain was audited by QuillAudits.

## Official BDX contracts

| Network | Contract address |
|---|---|
| BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) | [0x9d10a1ec41Fe7878429BB457e31F9b050D38c633](https://bscscan.com/token/0x9d10a1ec41Fe7878429BB457e31F9b050D38c633) |

BDX is native to the Beldex blockchain; the BEP-20 version on BNB Smart Chain is issued 1:1 against native BDX through the Beldex Bridge.

## Risks and caveats

- BEP-20 BDX depends on the Beldex Bridge, which holds native BDX to back each token 1:1.
- The whitepaper states that its contents may change and that the team gives no warranties on its completeness.
- Masternodes that go offline are deregistered and their collateral stays locked for 30 days.

## How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
