# Fetch.ai (FET): how it works, supply and reviews

## In short

- **Type**: Layer-1 blockchain (Fetch.ai mainnet / ASI Network) built with the Cosmos SDK, plus agent software and apps
- **Merger rates**: 1 FET = 1 ASI; 1 AGIX = 0.433350 ASI; 118.344 CUDOS = 1 ASI after a 5% merger fee
- **Risks and caveats**: The FET-to-ASI ticker migration is incomplete and its date is not set
- **Checked**: 31 October 2026

## Key facts

- **Ticker**: FET
- **Official site**: [fetch.ai](https://fetch.ai/)

Key facts checked on 31 October 2026 against official sources.

## What is Fetch.ai

Fetch.ai is a company and network for autonomous AI agents: it builds the ASI:One personal AI, the Agentverse agent marketplace, the uAgents framework and a Cosmos SDK proof-of-stake ledger where agents register and transact. Its FET token is the shared token of the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance formed with SingularityNET and CUDOS in 2024.

## Network and consensus

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Type | Layer-1 blockchain (Fetch.ai mainnet / ASI Network) built with the Cosmos SDK, plus agent software and apps |
| Consensus | Proof of stake: FET holders delegate to validators and earn rewards |
| Agent registry | The Almanac contract is an on-chain registry that makes agents discoverable |
| Chains | FET exists on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Cardano and Fetch.ai's native chain, with IBC to Cosmos chains |

## Supply and issuance

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Merger rates | 1 FET = 1 ASI; 1 AGIX = 0.433350 ASI; 118.344 CUDOS = 1 ASI after a 5% merger fee |
| Ticker change | FET is to convert automatically to ASI in phase 2 of the merger; date not set |
| Decimals | 18 decimals |

On 15 September 2026: 2,390,000,000 FET in circulation, 2,710,000,000 FET in total (source: [ASI Alliance token page (rounded figures)](https://web.archive.org/web/20260915211152/https://superintelligence.io/asi-token-fet/)).

## What FET is used for

- Pay for AI services such as the ASI1-mini model and the agent marketplace
- Stake to secure the Fetch.ai mainnet
- Register agents in the on-chain Almanac
- Vote on governance proposals

## Who develops and governs Fetch.ai

- **Governance**: On-chain token-weighted voting on the Fetch.ai network; alliance members keep their own governance under FET
- **Alliance**: ASI Alliance unites Fetch.ai, SingularityNET and CUDOS under the FET token
- **Company**: Fetch.ai (copyright holder of the network docs)
- **Open source**: Code published in the fetchai GitHub organisation

## History

| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 2017 | Fetch.ai founded; its founding whitepaper introduced the Autonomous Economic Agent |
| 27 March 2024 | Fetch.ai, SingularityNET and Ocean Protocol (OCEAN) announced the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance and a planned token merger. |
| 1 July 2024 | Phase 1 of the ASI token merger began: rebranding to ASI and merging AGIX into FET |
| October 2024 | CUDOS joined the ASI Alliance through a token merger into FET |
| 9 October 2025 | Ocean Protocol Foundation withdrew its directors and resigned as a member of the ASI Alliance; the alliance continues without Ocean. |
| 15 January 2026 | Fetch.ai launched FetchCoder V2, a coding assistant for agent development |

## Security incidents

| Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 19 September 2026 | Exploit: Exploit of the FET token migration and bridge infrastructure: the ASI Alliance says an unauthorized party withdrew about USD 1.56M in FET. Fetch.ai says its own contracts were not affected, FET kept operating normally and the attack targeted SingularityNET infrastructure. Funds returned: not stated | [x.com](https://x.com/Fetch_ai/status/2101707839979016337) |

Further incidents are reported by third parties (press, incident databases) but are not confirmed in the company’s own channels, so they are not listed here.

FET token contracts on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain as listed on the ASI Alliance token page; native FET lives on the Fetch.ai mainnet.

## Risks and caveats

- The FET-to-ASI ticker migration is incomplete and its date is not set
- FET exists on several chains and bridges, which adds bridge and wrong-network risks
- Alliance members keep separate governance, so decisions are spread across several organisations
- The ASI Alliance membership changed: Ocean Protocol, a founding member in 2024, withdrew on 9 October 2025, so alliance-level plans announced in 2024 may no longer include Ocean.

## How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
