# Vaulta (A): how it works, supply and reviews

## In short

- **Type**: Layer-1 blockchain on Antelope technology; not a new chain
- **Maximum supply**: Fixed total supply of 2.1 billion tokens (moved from an inflationary model)
- **Risks and caveats**: EOS and A coexist; some services support only one ticker, and swapping back became one-way after four months.
- **Checked**: 31 October 2026

## Key facts

- **Ticker**: A

## What is Vaulta

Vaulta is the 2025 rebrand of the EOS Network, a delegated proof-of-stake layer-1 built on Antelope technology, now positioned for Web3 banking. It runs on the same mainnet with full state history; the native token A replaced EOS at 1:1 with the same supply and vesting. A pays for resources, staking and block-producer voting.

## Network and consensus

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Type | Layer-1 blockchain on Antelope technology; not a new chain |
| Consensus | Savanna consensus with BLS signatures, about 1-second finality since the Spring 1.0 upgrade |
| Block producers | Elected by token holders; they run the infrastructure and sign off on upgrades |
| Throughput | 17,000+ transactions per second, per the project |
| Programming language | C++ smart contracts; Spring node software in C++ |
| Resource model | Accounts rent CPU/NET and buy RAM with the token |

## Supply and issuance

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Maximum supply | Fixed total supply of 2.1 billion tokens (moved from an inflationary model) |
| Halving | Four-year halving cycles for token release |
| Staking rewards | About 76 million tokens a year for staking rewards, halving every four years; 21-day lockup |
| Rename effect | A has the same total supply, allocation and vesting as EOS; only name and ticker changed |

## What A is used for

- Renting CPU/NET and buying RAM
- Staking for rewards and voting power
- Voting for block producers
- Transfers, dApps and bridging to other chains

## Who develops and governs Vaulta

- **Foundation**: Vaulta Foundation, a not-for-profit coordinating protocol development (formerly the EOS Network Foundation)
- **Legal entity**: Site legal notice is issued by the EOS Network Foundation and its affiliates
- **Governance**: Token holders elect block producers, who approve protocol upgrades and funding
- **Open source**: Yes; Spring, the C++ Antelope node with Savanna consensus

## History

| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| — | EOS rebrands to Vaulta; EOS becomes exchangeable 1:1 for the new A token from 14 May. |
| — | The swap runs both ways for four months, then one way from EOS to A. |
| 1 October 2025 | Vaulta EVM gas token changes from EOS to A. |
| 8 October 2025 | The Vaulta Foundation ends infrastructure support for Vaulta EVM; contracts and funds stay on-chain. |

## Security and audits

- The new token-swap contracts were audited by CertiK and Sentnl, according to the rebrand FAQ.
- Scams around the token transition are expected; the project says to use only official links.

## Security incidents

| Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 16 June 2018 | Network halt: Block.one published EOSIO v1.0.5 as an urgent release to address the EOS mainnet outage of 16 June 2018, when block production stopped; the fix allows block production to continue when a deferred or delayed transaction fails hard. The release notes do not state any loss of funds. | [github.com](https://github.com/EOSIO/eos/releases/tag/v1.0.5) |

## Official A contracts

| Network | Contract address |
|---|---|
| Vaulta (native) | core.vaulta |

A is issued by the core.vaulta account on Vaulta Native; sending EOS to core.vaulta returns the same amount of A. EOS remains the eosio.token token.

## Risks and caveats

- EOS and A coexist; some services support only one ticker, and swapping back became one-way after four months.
- Block production is limited to elected block producers, who also approve upgrades and funding.
- Vaulta EVM lost Foundation infrastructure support on 8 October 2025; users must run their own nodes or move to exSat EVM.

## Questions and answers

**What is Vaulta?**

Vaulta is the 2025 rebrand of the EOS Network: the same Antelope-based mainnet with its history intact, now focused on Web3 banking. Its token is A.

**Is EOS now Vaulta?**

Yes. EOS rebranded to Vaulta, and EOS can be swapped 1:1 for A with no fees; A has the same supply and vesting as EOS.

**Do I have to swap EOS to A?**

There is no deadline, but the project recommends swapping early; after four months the swap became one-way from EOS to A.

**What is the supply of A?**

Vaulta moved to a fixed total supply of 2.1 billion tokens with four-year halving cycles.

## How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
