Exactly what I was looking for!

A great starter kit or a good replacement for a worn stone. The silicone rubber base that comes with the stone is very good at preventing the stone from moving while sharpening. The instructions are on the box and in the form of an insert. This set doesn't come with a manual, so you probably already know what you're doing or buy a manual. The stone works well when used as directed (soak in water for 15 minutes before use). There is no face stone, so this set is best for infrequent use or as part of a larger set. If you're serious about keeping your knives sharp, you're going to need higher grit stones anyway. This is highly recommended!

Pros
  • 400 grit can be used to sharpen and repair large edges; 1000 grit is usually enough to get the thin edge of the knives for a nice, smooth cut.
Cons
  • Unfashionable
