Review on 🐠 NYOS Quantum 120 Protein Skimmer: High-Performance Solution for 130 Gallon Tanks by Denise Hansen

I haven't had this skimmer in a very long time so I have no idea how it will perform in the long term. I have a small sump so the compact internal pump design is great. It produced a few microbubbles for a few days, but now it seems to siphon well and is quieter than my return pump. The fine-tuned controls and quiet operation are an improvement over the Bubble Magus Curve 5 it replaced. However, the design and build quality are disappointing given the price and reputation. When assembling the skimmer, I found that the plastic stand that attaches the "Bubble Plate Twister" to the base plate was not attached to the base plate! Without this attachment, the Twister would simply float in the neck. Not sure if the post was meant to be glued or just a snug fit, but it wasn't. I ended up gluing the pin to the base, which I think should have been done at the factory. This part gets stretched every time the twister screw is turned, so I'm disappointed that it's only held in place by a small amount of glue.
