Review on GreaterGoods Japanese Damascus Chef Knife and Magnet Holder Set: VG-10 Steel, 8 πŸ”ͺ Inch Kitchen Knives, 100% Ultra Premium, Sharp Cutting & Chopping, Ergonomic Handle, Durable & Balanced by Elder Unogu

This knife is a bit overrated.

Advantages: 1) The contour of the handle is beautiful, the handle fits large hands comfortably. Cons: 1) The balance of this knife is not that good. The blade itself is thin, but the handle is heavy, making the back of the knife heavy. 2) The sides of the blade have been polished. Thinly sliced meat and vegetables such as potatoes ALWAYS stick to the knife because there is no air between the contact surfaces. This vacuum effect can disrupt your cutting motion as it creates completely unnecessary drag. For this reason, many paring knives even have air holes or air pockets. There are more shiny hunting or survival knives than kitchen knives, and for good reason. Polishing a thin blade meant for cutting to a mirror finish is a fundamental design flaw! 3) The knife I received didn't hold the blade very long, but at least I don't have the chipped blade or broken tip issues mentioned in some other reviews. . Carbide holds sharpen better but is also more fragile. I find the manufacturer's heat treatment a bit inconsistent, but in this price range there are no major complaints.

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • Useless functions
