*Good news* I bought this to hold our steak knives. I don't see any problems with that as far as it's intended. It consists of hard plastic and is lined with rubber (silicone?). The knives fit perfectly. *Not so good news* The packaging was terrible. The knife dock came in factory packaging (with a large front cutout for presentation) and in thin plastic packaging. So the box was ripped open and there were a few chips and scuffs on the knife dock crossbars. Since this doesn't interfere with his work in any way, he just lies in a box that only I open. I will not try to return or replace it. It was just a little embarrassing that someone was being so careless.
