Fit and finish not as good as Mexican axes, sold for $29

Fit and finish not as good as Mexican axes, sold for $29. I can't return it, but I wouldn't buy another one. The head is well made, needs sharpening like most, but the handle is raw, big gaps between the ax head and the handle, not what I expected for such a price. For the cost, choose a Swedish ax or an American point. I don't know if this Gedore line is the lower quality Ochsenkopf, but for the money it's pretty gross. Ochsenkopf makes axes for Stihl and the Stihl axes I've seen are much better in fit, finish and quality. And a Stihl ranger ax costs $100 at the dealer, but few dealers sell them. The price of this tool is too high compared to what you get. The blade cover is vinyl with velcro, the handle is not properly aligned with the grain of the wood. and will most likely break. The handle says "Hickory" but it's easy to erase, I don't know what kind of wood but it's not hickory. Remove the barcode sticker from the handle with a little solvent, all lettering, brand names, the usual safety warning "Do not cut off the foot" etc. are erased. The blade feels soft and does not pick up the blade. I've seen the best Wetterling copies from Asia. Save $100 and buy some at your nearest hardware store. Or spend a little more on something better like I should have. I'd say maybe two stars for $50 or less.
