I recently started removing a dirty old carpet from my office. They used both tape and glue to secure it in place. I used it for wallpapering in another room, but it became necessary to clean my concrete floor from all sorts of unpleasantness. There was a bonded pad, glue and riots, which I wouldn't discuss in decent company. The blade held up well even in some of the tougher spots where they probably used a full tube of glue. However, as other reviewers have pointed out, using this machine is at least an arm workout, if not a full body workout.
