I bought these hoping to reduce mineral buildup on the heating element of a Vicks warm mist humidifier. Judging by the photo, they did not help. These photos were taken when the heating element was used clean (photo 1), without a demineralization cartridge (photo 2), with 1 cartridge (photo 3) and finally with 2 cartridges (photo 4). Plastic bag (photo 5) with no information or instructions. I don't know how much to use each time, so I first tried one in a 1 gallon tank, then two, but didn't feel they reduced mineral buildup or made cleaning easier. When I put them in the water tank they float to the top so I'm not sure how they will handle the whole hard water tank. I left the cartridges in the tank for a few days and didn't notice any effect. Note. I noticed that the order of loading the images doesn't match the order shown on the overview page. I've tried uploading the images again and see if that fixes the problem.
