I liked the thick cord and grounded plug compared to other alternatives. The first time I ordered it, I put on a self-made algae scrubber and tuned it back a bit, I think that makes it quieter. I can't even tell he's there. I was so pleased with it that I decided to proactively replace my cheap port charge pump in my sump with this one and it was so noisy. I sent it back and ordered another one, assuming it must be defective. The new one worked flawlessly for about two weeks, then it also got loud. I turned it off and on every day, and sometimes it was silent all day, but other times I just had to learn to ignore it. I was past my return deadline so decided to just keep this as a backup and order another brand as a replacement.
