The unit worked normally out of the box. However, this adapter has a serious disadvantage. One end of the adapter has a three-pin socket. The cable that connects to the laptop also connects to this connector. The three pins in the connector are simply pushed into the adapter body with a connector and moved. Once relocated, they no longer offer laptop charging. Your combination cannot be corrected without opening the adapter. The adapter is a sealed electrical box so I have not attempted to repair it. If you leave the plug permanently connected to the power supply, you shouldn't have any problems. However, if you need to plug the cable into the adapter from time to time (e.g. more than 10 times), be VERY careful to align the plug with the pins in the adapter, otherwise the plug will push the pins into the adapter, show it. the electrical connection cannot be made and thus the laptop cannot be charged.
