Review on Maxspect Gyre XF350 Spare Pump: Optimized Wavemaker for Enhanced Flow by Colleen Guaydacan

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Squeezes water, doesn't blow it out. You need to buy a controller.

Absolutely quiet. Replaced 2 MP40s on a 6ft shallow reef. The MP40s failed to hit the center of the tank. 2 cycles can, but that's hardly enough. The current on the short spiral ramp actually pushes the water through the tank and looks more natural. Cleaning is just ok. More dismountable parts than the MP40, and I recommend (as with the MP40) getting extra wet side panels so you can twist them out. on.Negatives: My hardware controller died in the morning before leaving for vacation. As a result, a pump did not work. I'm glad I noticed before we left. Coralvue was great, responsive and sent me a replacement but I never had an MP40 stamp. Now I feel like I need to have an extra controller on hand that costs upwards of $0.5-$10. Years ago a handheld controller would have been awesome and awesome. Today it is clumsy and outdated. The spinning wheel spins slightly past the desired setting and can be nudged by pressing the center button. Setting night and day mode, setting feed mode duration, etc. is good, but more complicated than it should be. It must be supplied with the ICV6 controller. I would not recommend buying these pumps without ordering/counting the controller in the total cost.
