Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ High-performance Spectra Complete Radiator CU2310: Optimal Cooling for Your Vehicle by Edwin Cen

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY!

I have a fleet of 2nd generation Ford Explorers and sometimes buy parts for them on Amazon as replacements in case a part fails. I ordered two of these heatsinks, have used Spectra heatsinks in the past and they were very good quality and great value for money. I was very surprised when I received two completely different radiators. They couldn't be more different. The first radiator I got looked like the good old Spectra I knew and loved, great quality and well built. He took the second one out of the box and was amazed by what he saw. A completely different radiator that turned out to be very poor quality. The second heat sink is called Spectra, dated 2019 and "made in Canada". I compared two radiators and couldn't believe the difference in quality. The Canadian made radiator is very poorly designed and made from inferior materials. The one made in China has a shiny finish, even the fins - the Canadian one has a very matte finish, including the fins. The plastic made in China is more durable. I've looked into both - the Chinese have glossy insides, while the Canadian insides are matte and already looking rusted just from exposure to the air. Also, the Chinese line/hose connections are well drilled and well formed with no residue or dangling pieces of plastic, but the Canadian has sharp pieces of plastic hanging INSIDE the radiator hose area due to a poor molding process. The Chinese has many fins and it is very difficult to bend them with your finger while the Canadian has far fewer fins and I (literally!) barely touched the fins on this one and they curled up badly. I also noticed that the Canadian has tabs on the underside that are crooked so it probably won't fit the vehicle properly - and you guessed it, the Chinese have the tabs perfect and right on the radiator. Note that heat sinks bend over time, and the softer the material and the fewer fins, the faster the heatsink will fail. The new design radiators are not even remotely similar to the old Spectra radiators. Shame on you Spectra for stopping quality heatsinks for this poorly made new model. I will not buy anything from Spectra again.
