Review on πŸ”₯ Calesco Full Watt Hard Side Waterbed Heater: Efficient Heating Solution for Your Waterbed by John Banks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cheap so no frills

Update: Although they advertise it as more powerful (at 25w), I have my doubts. It went up to 85 degrees pretty quickly, but to me it's just "neutral" (neither warm nor cold). In winter I got used to 91-92 degrees, but it seems that it will not come to that. It took about 20 hours to go from 85 to 86 degrees at the highest setting. To be honest I will give it a few more days before sending it back and buying the same 300w model as my previous one. It took less than an hour or so to increase by one degree.================================= Update #2 A: Well, after a few days, the temp finally hit 90 degrees (starting in the mid 80's due to filling the bed with my kettle). The pillow base is a bit smaller, so it probably took longer. than my old heating pad. I prefer 91-92 in the winter, but I can live with that (plus such a pain to deflate/sit/make the bed). The controller is numbered 1-7 and 90 degrees is 6.5 so it's almost exhausted. Made the bed ready after it was installed, about 5 hours ago. Unlike my previous heater it doesn't have a digital display and only the heating element has failed so I'm using the old controller to read the temperature. I simply put the old temperature sensor back under the mattress. The new heater works well and has gone from 77 to 81 degrees in the last few hours. It should be up to 90 by bedtime. I topped up the bed with my kettle but had to keep stopping and letting the new tank heat up. I've been sleeping on a bed of ice all week waiting for my new heater, so it's worth using the water heater to get a head start. One star deducted because everything is one piece and the controls didn't go through my corner hole. I had to break the saw and enlarge the hole. Are connectors really that expensive? There's just a tiny red light to show it's on and a numbered wheel to set the temperature, so there are no frills on this model. Although this heater was well priced, draining/installing/refilling was a bummer. When installing a new waterbed, you may need to purchase and install 2 heaters. My old heater had a 5 year warranty and died right at the 5 year mark. It would have been worth the money if I had installed 2 heaters 5 years ago.
