I had moderate water damage outside my home that needed repairs. I have cedar paneling. I replaced a few clapboards here and there, but only by hand. Due to the size of this project and other future projects (fence renovation, barn) I wanted to invest in a facade nailer. As a homeowner/do-it-yourselfer, I didn't want to spend a small fortune on a tool that doesn't get used all that often. For most things, not all, I feel like you get what you pay for. At first I tried to find a used nailer but found it difficult to find. So "new" was the only choice back then. I compared several different brands and settled on the Freeman PCN65 and the Bostitch nailer for roll fairings. Freeman seemed to be at the bottom and Bostitch was in the middle. Of course I chose Bostitch. This was largely due to frequent reviews of the Freeman's reliability and quality. Not only from Revain, but also from other retailers. Although the Bostitch is slightly more expensive than the Freeman (when I bought it), I saw it more as an investment. Additionally, with proper care, most tools will last for many, many years. Or if you decide to sell, you may be able to get more bang for your buck. The nailer feels solid, well built and balanced. It comes with a beautiful molded plastic case for storage or portability. I've hung over 50+ tiles with it and had no problems. No interference. No misfires. Depth adjustment was easy and there were no issues with shingles breaking or chipping after installation. Loading is easy, I used this Grip Rite Prime Guard Max MAXC62872 1-1/2" 15 degree wire spool with .09" ring shank stainless steel fairing nails 1200 nails per box. The hook is very handy, especially on stairs! It also has two triggers depending on how you want to shoot the nails. Contact, for rapid impact fire (think how roofers hang roof tiles) or sequential fire, for precise placement. In general I am satisfied with the purchase, the last project has accelerated. We look forward to more! The only downside is that you also have to order an air quick connect plug, which is a bit disappointing, well. It would be nice if they contained oil.
