Top Disappointment in Computers & Accessories

Latest I've had since twenty years of several Belkin routers and was therefore very pleased with the purchase of this one. After the router updated and registered itself, it worked very smoothly. Simplicity is the theme of this device, although several router tweaks have been sacrificed for the sake of simplicity. Among other things, the guest band only works in 2.4G mode, the device comes without a manual/manual and the settings portal is not entirely secure. The range of this router is almost sufficient for an average house/apartment. Signal strength is excellent as long as the device is within line of sight of the router. However, at a distance of about 60 feet and behind walls, the signal degrades significantly. Looking at some of the reviews I have found that this particular batch or entire run of the model has a major quality control issue as some units work well and others not so well. It looks like mine is one of those that work pretty well; and for a long time, I hope. It is clear that this device is not a premium model of the product, but the price for it is reasonable. To update. Like I said, looks too early. After three days of operation, this router decided to completely stop operating on its own. I was able to get it working again by doing a power reset. Now my confidence in this product has decreased. Accordingly, I am reducing my rating from 4 to 3. Update 2: This router has been running flawlessly since the first hiccups. I am changing the stars from 3 to 4. Update 3: After about 11 months, there were many cases where the device would not connect for several minutes or the device would disconnect from the internet. Obviously, an initial rating of two or even one star would be more appropriate for this router.
