The power of good lighting for photos and movies cannot be underestimated. Of course, being able to use existing or natural light is great, but in many cases you'll need to supplement the scene with artificial light, which is provided by lighting kits like this Switti RGB LED Video Light Kit. Switti is a photographic equipment company specializing in the development of lighting solutions for photographers and other camera accessories. This lighting kit consists of two RGB LED video panels, two adjustable lighting stands, two soft boxes, two power adapters and power cords, and a large carrying case. The lamp is made of aluminum and has good heat dissipation. Frames are also made of aluminum. The lighting set arrived in a carrying bag. The bag is one of the best features of this set as it packs all the pieces into a very durable, easy to carry bag. The lighting panels came with bubble wrap which I left behind for long term storage of the lamps. After all the parts of the kit were on the floor, I assembled the softboxes. The lighting set comes with an instruction manual, but there is no mention of softboxes or providing instructions for the lighting. When I searched for it online I was redirected to Revain's product page where I found a nice illustrative diagram showing the user exactly how to install the softbox. Using the backlight is also very easy. I like that it has the option to use batteries, but since they aren't included I decided to plug in a DC adapter instead. To get started, simply place a light on top of one of the bases. Tighten the thumbscrew on the flashlight, and then plug the flashlight into a power source. The power button has two options - powered by a DC adapter or batteries. After plugging in the AC adapter I tried toggling back and forth and the battery powered option didn't get the light to work. After turning on the light, I played around with the controls a bit. Also if you have the option to connect two panels together as master/slave I would like a remote control option. This comes in handy when you're shooting alone and want to adjust the lighting without leaving your camera. The controls are pretty easy to understand. First you want to choose the mode you want to use. Personally, I mostly use white-yellow light, so I went with CCT and then set the desired color temperature. I like the wide range of yellow to bright white light that the LED offers. This is a very versatile option that works really well when trying to light a scene or product with warmer or cooler tones. One of the best features of these LED panels is the HSI mode, which allows you to choose any color in the RGB color spectrum. . The lights can switch between 360ยบ colors and 1-100% saturation. These lights are therefore perfect for creating different moods. One of the things I really like is using one light source as the main light and setting the mood with a second tint panel. It really brings the photos to life and shows the drama of the scene. FLS mode - or special effects - is a nice feature, but I don't use it regularly. It's definitely a fun option to add a light effect to the camera rather than trying to "fix it in a post". The Switti RGB LED lighting set is a robust lighting set. The materials used to manufacture the product are top-notch and it comes with easy-to-use features. While I wish there was a remote included, that's not necessarily a deal breaker for me. I like that it comes with a carrying case because these sets are easy to lose. In form and function, this lighting set is a good investment for beginners or as additional lighting for experienced professionals.
