Looks elegant, nice presentation, excellent design

I have been collecting and writing about knives and sharpeners professionally for many years. My first impression of this ceramic sharpener was its looks. It comes in a nice black box and is very long and looks expensive. This will be a great gift! I also see a lot of people complaining about gray streaks on their white ceramic rods. It's the steel of your knife embedded in the ceramic, it's a normal part of removing the steel from your edge. The ceramic sharpening rod differs from the steel sharpening rod. The steel straightening rod just aligns the edge of your blade so that the edge no longer has minor misalignments, the steel rod of the other edge so that instead of looking like this with microscopic misalignments --_----__ -- your edge is straight and aligned like this ---------- so it cuts better. The ceramic sharpener not only smoothes the edge, but also removes some steel to sharpen AND align the edge of the knife. What many will love about this BLACK CERAMIC wand is that it doesn't have the gray streaks found on white ceramic. I still love ceramics. There are grooves on each "side" of the cylindrical rod. Personally, I've found that these types of grooves leave microscopic jags on the edge, which greatly improves the cut. There are two types of cuts to consider when choosing a blade: A fairly smooth, razor-like blade works well for cutting, e.g. B. for cutting through vegetables. The slightly serrated edge is best for "biting" the material with the blade when cutting, rather than just pushing it. Press down and then finish with a few stitches along the ribbed grooves of the stem to create micro-notches around the edge. The handle is very comfortable and ergonomic. There are small seams on the plastic of an injection mold and that's the only thing that looks a little cheap about this tool. But it feels and works great! The staff is very long. And again, since it's all black, it looks elegant. I think it will be a great gift! For the price, it looks a lot more expensive than it actually is. That's a great thing! Manufactured in Japan and Taiwan. These are my first impressions. I'll write more if I have any problems.
