out of the box, I was a little skeptical. The material of the wicker basket is not made of wood, but of a vinyl thread stretched through a frame. It didn't seem very sturdy, especially for sitting. And my dog confirmed this as he seemed unsure when I put him in. Second, as has been said in other reports of belts, they are correct to a certain extent. Third, I found that the rings on the strap basket were too far apart at the corners to 1) fit properly on the bike handlebars and 2) were too far apart for the amount of strap that came with it. The instructions for fitting the basket mount to my bike were clear and easy to follow. After that, I cut out three pieces of cardboard from the shipping box and glued them together to provide a stronger floor support. First I moved the rings out of the corners and made them more centered. I attached the straps which took a while to knit properly. And I failed several attempts, and I saw one of the corners weaken. But after I fixed it, I was still not happy with the distance between the basket and the handlebars. So I decided I really didn't need rings. I attached the strap hooks directly to the basket and then tied them to the handle with a proper knot. And because the straps attach directly to the basket, I don't have to undo the straps to remove the basket when I don't need it. Finn and I had a great ride! The harness is strong, heavy and adjustable. And at least my baby can't get out of the basket so I'm sending the cage back. The optional awning is great for riding in direct sunlight and we really had a great first ride in our basket. It never slipped, stayed in place, and Finn loved sticking his head out to catch the wind. I've also uploaded an installation video so others can get a good idea before purchasing.
