30% errors straight from the gate. And they are not safe (open), they fail to bypass!

I am not new to electronics. I've had a long career in EE and linear controls are as simple as they get. In fact, I often prefer less efficient linear converters to buck converters for their simplicity and reliability. They also don't generate noise like active buck converters. But not this one. . . Error left and right. Those that don't drain on arrival run for a while, then the output goes high and starts tracking the input without stabilizing back to 5V. These devices will fail at low current loads (50mA max) when rated for 1000mA with a small voltage drop. (Linear regulators are more efficient when the input is close to the output, since performance is voltage and current dependent. The more voltage dropped across the regulator, the more likely it is to overheat and die from overheating.) Of course, how can you rate that Device at an input current of 1000 mA and 12 V, if the power drop is 7 W! It is clear that this will not happen with the SMD regulator. But that's not my problem, just a warning to others. So pay no attention to that. . . 30% of them failed on arrival and do not open, they fail and send the input voltage to the output. Say goodbye to your scheme! The output voltage is not the full input voltage, but it follows the input voltage. When 11V is applied, 9.3V is fed to the load Not good. And why do they fail? There is nothing simpler than a linear monolithic device. I should have just built my own but they were the right price and came with cables. Save yourself the headache (now or in the future) and buy something more reliable, even if it doesn't have low voltage (input-output) differential. ) is available for this device.
