Review on πŸ’Ύ Optimized QNAP TS-873-4G 8-bay NAS featuring AMD R-Series Quad-core 2.1GHz CPU and Four 1GbE Ports by Daniel Pyfer

Excellent NAS Devices - Computers and Accessories

This is my second NAS from QNAP. My first lasted 10 years and the quality they produce is top notch. I upgraded it to 64GB RAM with two 512GB m2 SSDs for cache. I really like what they have done with QTS in the latest versions. This NAS has everything I missed from my previous one (PCI-E slots/more RAM/VM and container support), and the tool-less drive sled is a really nice touch. At first I thought they were cheap compared to my last Qnap (they are all metal) but they are not. They are very durable and now prefer plastic. My only complaint: for $900 it should have come with over 4GB, cheap as RAM these days. It should have had a status screen like my last one. Why not include at least 2.5GbE or 5GbE instead of 4 1GbE ports? It's not exactly a cheap or entry-level product. I understand that 10GbE will be expensive, but even most motherboards come with 2.5GbE. The included m2 drive heatsinks are a joke. Also, this thing is amazing and it flies. I will provide an update in a few years to see if it works the same as my last one. Which also works, I just wanted something with more slots and the latest version of QTS.
