First impression: Wow! This tray is stylish! I just didn't know there were nice trash cans! I was excited. I have a cat who makes a terrible mess in (and out of) the litter box. But she has health issues that make her use the litter box a lot, and because of the medication she's gained weight and isn't very good at jumping on anything. So I doubted she would, but I hoped. I did what I read online; removed the old tray but put the old one in this new one. Well, she just didn't want to and proved it by pooping in the tub. She has NEVER done that. So we put the old tray back and put this nice one aside for a few days. Maybe if I gave her more time she would finally take advantage of it, but I didn't want to stress her out. Meanwhile, we just adopted a cat from a friend of mine who moved into a pet-free apartment. This cat didn't want to share the litter box. She also enjoys sitting in boxes, in the sink (which she fits in perfectly) and hiding (unlike the other cat who is very sociable). I removed the second cat box and replaced it with this new IRIS. That's a great success. She accepted it immediately. Now I would really like the mess making kitten to like the box as that was the biggest problem I wanted to solve. And I'd be even better off if I didn't need two trays, but I do need them. Well, at least one of them isn't an eyesore now. My only complaint is that the shovel gets caught on the liner of the garbage bag and I would have preferred if the top flipped open for easier shoveling. This box looks really nice. I like the boxy design and how the top is angled so any debris falls back from the cat's paws. Before buying, I would advise you to think about your cat's habits. My guess is that cats that like to hide in small spaces will choose to do so. I would not recommend it for sick or elderly cats. But if your cat likes it, you're in luck! This is such an improvement over the regular tray!
