I have to travel to Europe several times a year for work and was looking for a universal adapter for my laptop and devices. There are many options for them and they work, but these generic ones keep falling out of the plug. While this thing isn't universal, it doesn't work in the UK, parts of Asia or Australia, but it's great in Germany or France. The USB ports also mean I no longer have to carry a power adapter with me for my phones and tablets. I've used this several times in Europe and it works very well. It's also surge protection. Other universal power adapters I've used in the past aren't - they're just adapters so it was worth it for me.
