Comfortable hat for longer use

I use lycra hats for swimming as I have found that latex hats pull on my hair and silicone hats, although preferable to latex, always do still keep sweat and make me itch . For a long time, the Lycra hat was the most comfortable. The disadvantage of a Lycra hat is that it wears out relatively quickly and stretches and loses elasticity like a worn bathing suit. However, this alone can be an advantage. I have very long hair and a hat fits me best if it's not new. I suspect those with less hair don't stretch the cap as much, providing the same snug fit. The Lycra hat can also be embroidered and/or decorated with fabric paints. This is an easy way to create a custom swim cap. I once sewed styrofoam ears onto a lycra hat to encourage team spirit. The ears were held, but then they were easily removed. I've been buying a light green Lycra hat about twice a year for the past few years. It seems like a bit much but I think it's worth it considering I swim year round. If you are looking for a comfortable cap for non-competitive swimming (e.g. training) then I wholeheartedly recommend this product. If you're looking for a racing cap, you're probably looking for something else. That doesn't mean it's a bad product, it's just not a racing cap. If unsure, buy a cap. Worth a try; I definitely didn't think a cloth cap sounded like a good idea. How wrong was I!
