I love this product but would NOT recommend it. These eight blocks are built into our backyard apple tree. The tree receives full sun. We randomly noticed these eight devices and hung them on branches where we thought there would be enough light to charge the batteries. The results were mixed. Some lamps lasted 3 hours, some 5, but none longer. I have tested each battery and found that they discharge at different rates. I went ahead and bought high quality Eneloop Panasonic AAA batteries. Logical ... a better battery gives a better result. It's not like this. I have concluded that the solar cell is not collecting enough light to create an effective charge. I moved the blocks - same result. I removed the blocks from the tree and sat on a sun-drenched bench all day - the results are similar. Now, after two and a half months of trying different options, none of the lights stay on for more than 3 hours, and some even less. I 100% like the concept but would recommend a better solar panel and switching from a AAA battery to an AA battery for a longer lasting effect.
