I wish I had read ALL the reviews before buying but I still like the color and they feel good. Polyester has come a long way since the 70's. When the sun shines on my French doors, I can see leaf patterns through them. They do enough work to keep my house darker in the summer. Full sun is hard to endure and they cut off a lot of it. I think they turn black when there is little light, but not in direct sun. no The reason I wanted them was because I couldn't see my street light at night. Fail. The picture of the black threads inside is completely misleading. It's not three layers of fabric. So know what you are looking for and buy accordingly. I'm still watching
