Review on John Boos Beechwood Butcher Block Oil & Cream Applicator - 1 Count by Mdl Thurston

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy to use knife block oil applicator allows for application of thin layers

I used to apply Boos Block Mystery Oil by pouring a little on the surface and then applying it with my fingers like most people do Sponges do applicators absorb the oil instead of distributing it. The sponge of this applicator is used to spread oil. Pad This applicator pad is stiffer than regular sponges and has larger pores for an even application. It feels rough when first applied, but avoid pressure and follow the fibers to facilitate gliding. I wish the pillow was removable/replaceable, it doesn't appear to be removable. It also comes with a plastic lid, which most other alternatives don't have. This helps keep the pad clean. Cleaning I do not wash this pad as I always use it after washing my boos block. I just put it back in the plastic sleeve after each use without washing. I'm not sure if the adhesive between the pad and the wood disc degrades with washing, so I just avoid it all together. Try not to apply extra pressure as this is unnecessary and can cause premature wear of the applicator. A little oil goes a long way with this SpreadA pad. I swirl the oil onto the block first, then run this applicator over it to spread it. Works perfectly. A little pricey but a quality product.

Pros
  • Cutlery and knife accessories
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
