Review on AQUATICLIFE RO Buddie Plus DI 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis Deionization Unit 50 GPD for Aquatic Environments by Melody Watson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

At 14 gallons per day, it's cheap and efficient, but very slow when you're running large tanks (150 gallons and up) with it.

I wanted to write a review on this because I felt misled by many things after operating it and I was very concerned about flushing money down the toilet. First, the 50 gallon unit doesn't work. Don't produce 50 gallons of water per day because most of the water you put in is wasted (good to bad water ratio of 1.4 to 3.6). It produces about 14 gallons per day. 36 liters go down the drain. Since the unit (4 stages RO+DI for 50 gallons) cost me about $60 and the carbon filter only fits 1500 gallons (in!), I have to replace it every 30 days ($10 ) and distilled water is actually only 88 cents a gallon at Walmart, I thought I had made a grave mistake. However, it turns out that even if I only got the initial 1,500 gallons for $60, it would end up costing me about 16 cents a gallon of good water - that's $66 ($6 for 1,500 gallons of tap water) in addition to the 420 gallons of pure water you got from 1500 tap water you pour. $19 for carbon and sediment filters every 1500 gallons, reduced to about 6 cents per gallon (19+6)/420.
