Description states requires a 50/100/150W 3 way bulb. The first lamp installed on the wall. Insert a new 3-way light bulb. The first two clicks of the switch mean nothing. With the third click I had the maximum lamp power. The bulb burned out (burned out) in less than 5 minutes. Again took a second new lightbulb. nothing at 50 or 100 and a NEW bulb burned out in less than 5 minutes. Taken off the wall and boxed for return. If you still want to order, REALLY pay attention to the size of the lampshade. Its depth is only 8 inches. I didn't pay much attention to the size when ordering as the two lamps ordered replaced wall lamps that hung over bedside tables for years. I planned to use the shades I have. Due to the way this lamp is made, the 8" dome would slacken the swing arm with less than 1" of headroom. This lamp can work on an accent table, but the lampshade that came with the lamp is definitely too small for a queen bed. Also, since the bulb is screwed into the box, you can just use the lampshade that was fitted by the harp/spider installer. You can't use a lampshade that's attached with a bracket (the type that fits a lightbulb).
