Wow, what an unpleasant surprise! Something was glistening in my eyes, so I took a magnifying glass and removed some metal particles at the entrance of the filter! I was ready to change my standard filter and luckily I noticed. When I was able to start the engine for the first time, all these particles went straight into my cylinder. There are many of them. I counted a dozen of them and took out 4 (see photo). K&N looks like you don't have quality control? I used to have a K&N air filter on a previous Mazda 6 and everything was perfect. Not this time. Maybe I'm just unlucky. I highly recommend testing the filter you buy before using it for the first time!
