Review on Equal I Zer 95015150 Sway Bracket Jacket by Jon Johnson

They make towing a lot quieter!

Ever since we bought our camper last year we've been mindful of this every time we go camping. But for the wrong reasons. Our Equal-i-zer would snag, squeak and groan every time we hit a bump or took a sharp turn. As we drove through the campsite to our site, everyone we passed stopped to see what was making all the noise. My initial research (both online and speaking to other campers) concluded that the noise was normal and a by-product of the Equal-i-zer's weight distribution and sway control. But all these noises seemed far from normal, so I kept looking for a solution to this noise problem. I finally found a reference to the Equal-i-zer Sway Bracket Jackets. They are placed on the brackets on which the tension rods rest. Rubbing the stabilizer tie rods against the bracket will help reduce sway when towing a trailer. Before the covers were installed the friction was metal to metal so I heard a lot of noise. With the covers installed, the friction is now metal on nylon, which is much quieter. When towing with the jackets on, I noticed absolutely no drop in pendulum control. The only thing I noticed is that my camper is much quieter! When we drove through the campsite last weekend, nobody noticed that we were there. Unfortunately, I can't quite honestly give the Sway Bracket Jackets credit for calming my hitch. I also purchased Equal-i-zer clutch lube and applied it to the ball, clutch head, and top and bottom of the tie rod bushings. While I'm sure the bracket covers alone will reduce the noise from your hitch, I don't think they will eliminate all of the pops and squeaks. You will also need lube. However I still think this is a great product and purchase and would not hesitate to purchase again should the need arise.
