The disk was in use for 1.5 years, last week a sound like a "creak" was suddenly heard, as during unsuccessful attempts to record, after which the disk ordered to live for a long time. When you start the computer (power on), the disk spins up, the magnetic heads move three times and freeze along with the disk. It is not detected in the BIOS, the OS sees it as a 4 GB disk and cannot do anything with it, not a single SMART program can really take it, it also fails to manage the disk at a low level. An attempt to communicate with the controller through the service connector via USB-TTL did not give anything, apparently it was he who died. Opening the hermetic box also did not give anything: visually the pancakes are intact, the magnetic head too. The warranty, according to information from the Seagate website, expired in the summer of the 19th, although the warranty period from the manufacturer is 2 years. Unclear. The cost of data recovery is from 8 thousand in different services, the cost of repair is about the same level due to the high complexity of the repair, therefore, the disk will go to the trash or a donor to some service. I absolutely do not recommend.
