I have a very small home network. I also have Alexa and Google devices. I got a good offer for a gigabit ethernet upgrade from my ISP. I also replaced the company-supplied WiFi router with a Netgear Orbi. Using Cat 5e or Cat 6 would work fine. I went with Cat 8 to be as sure as possible that due to the old architecture there are no bottlenecks from old, overly worn or bad quality cables! Cat 8 cables were relatively cheap, so I bought them. TRUE. I really DO NOT know if Cat 8 cables are any better than Cat "X" class cables. Ceteris paribus. Then we come to the technical specifications. alone would mean I made the right choice! Bust? Probably! If I had to do it over and over again, I would!
