We have a regular canister vacuum and a shop vacuum for "project" cleaning. But our pellet stove is our main heat source in winter and produces ash. Pellet stoves also produce sawdust here and there. Conventional vacuum cleaners simply throw fine ash straight into the exhaust; your filter material is too big. It's the same with cleaning drywall dust with a vacuum: it's just thrown out the other side. The disadvantage of this device is that the section is quite weak because the filter material is very thin. The smaller the holes, the less air can pass through them. But the ash doesn't take long to move, so it's not a problem. It's a unique product and I can't imagine many people needing it. But if you have a pellet stove and it's a total mess, think about it. You can keep the vacuum on by just pointing it up in the air, in the oven while you're cleaning things, and it'll vacuum up a lot too. Emptying is easy, just do it outside. Since we work on a pellet stove 18 hours a day, we only need to empty the thing every few months at most. was a workhorse with no problems. The quality of it gave me some confidence in my purchase.
