If you value your eyesight, get this monitor.

I decided to go with a 27 inch monitor to get more work space and initially bought a Dell 4K monitor for around $650. It was a good monitor, but 4K was a problem: using the native resolution of 3840 x 2160 made all text/menus/etc appear too small. I set it to 2560 x 1440 - the text size was legible and I had a much larger workspace than my 24 inch monitor. THE PROBLEM was that 4K just didn't have enough pixels to display most of the text in crisp detail; everything had a slight but noticeable blur that gets tiring to look at after a while. This LG 5K monitor is amazing: in addition to incredible image/brightness/color rendition, it makes even the smallest text perfectly sharp and clear at 2560 x 1440 resolution. For videos and photos, the difference between 4K and 5K is often not that big, but for text, drawing, CAD, word processing/spreadsheets, menus, and everyday Mac desktop work, it's a day-to-night difference. This monitor is expensive, but it's worth every penny if you care about your eyesight.
