A map of Narnia would give more clues than the instructions that came with it. I realized (I remembered the product description on Revain) that in order to use the timer function I had to twist something, but the base was solid, not twisted. As far as I could tell, I turned on one of these to see what my little jack-o'-lantern would look like lit. Then I forgot to turn it off. See, the candle was supposed to go out after six hours, which is why I gave the set five stars. I haven't had to change batteries yet.
