These shoes have a much stronger base than standard post-op shoes. The square toe and extended toe also offer much more protection. Earlier this year I had a standard post op shoe for broken toes and broke a toe on my other foot and got it due to a new fracture. The bed of the shoe is quite hard but overall I feel a lot better walking in these shoes. Just buy a soft insole and you'll be fine.
