Great quality walnut knife rail at a great price

I have searched long and hard for a quality, durable walnut magnetic knife rail and this one available from Revain has exceeded my expectations. Not only is wood a great addition to my kitchen, the magnet is strong enough to securely hold a 10 inch 3 pound chef's knife and 4 other heavy steel knives without wobbling or warping. This is amazing technology as the magnets are fully embedded in the walnut. and all seams are invisible. While there are certainly pricier options, this is an excellent magnetic knife at a reasonable price (and I'm a former designer with a keen taste for the finer things in life ;). Walnut wood is simply beautiful, but like any wood, there will be normal pattern variations with the item you receive. Because I accidentally ordered 2, I was able to choose from both items and then return the other. I suggest you do the same as and wood is used very differently for each piece and personal preference will vary. It is also recommended to use a food grade natural conditioning oil (such as olive, sunflower or coconut oil) to keep the finish so new looks like wood as it can discolor knives. over time. The package includes a template, plastic drywall screws, 2 grub screws of different sizes, a suitable wood spacer (for plumb wall) and installation instructions. Having installed to the side of my plywood cabinets I wasn't concerned about weight or pressure but would recommend purchasing metal drywall anchors/mollys if installing into drywall as the plastic anchors provided will deteriorate with constant use of a rod and inevitably loosen /or with heavy steel knives. Overall, this magnetic stick is outstanding in beauty and quality and I highly recommend it.
